Start: Friday 19 September, College of the Resurrection, Mirfield
Finish: Sunday 21 September, Wakefield
The weekend will begin with a lecture by Fr Marc Chaveau, who will share his experience as a Dominican curator during 17 years in the Priory of La Tourette, France, which is still a place inhabited by Dominicans.
Fr Marc’s talk will be focused around the question of dialogue between contemporary art, religious spaces and spirituality.
Using Fr Marc’s words, “All the artists invited who have exhibited at La Tourette have been touched by this incredible experience. It was a dialogue between Le Corbusier’s architectural work and the works exhibited. There was a new way of looking at both the convent’s architecture and the artworks.”
The weekend will include a visit of the College of the Resurrection on Saturday, a guided tour of selected exhibitions at the Hepworth Gallery on Sunday. A more detailed programme will soon be shared.
