Two very large oil paintings portray the Easter story in semi-abstract form and comprise two panels which flank the altar. The paintings were awarded a Leamington Society Golden Jubilee award in 2003.
Mo Enright (b. 1953, British) was born and raised in the Hambleton Hills in North Yorkshire and after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and an MA in the History of Art is now a full-time professional artist working from Art-E Studios in Warwickshire. Enright’s work is primarily oil on canvas or panel; however, the location and the environment for a particular commission may suggest an alternative set of criteria, which is always taken into consideration. Enright’s work is to be found in corporate and private collections worldwide.

Nominated by Ven Morris Rodham (Archdeacon Missioner for the Diocese of Coventry), who writes: ‘The Easter Story by Mo Enright is a semi-abstract theological reflection on the momentous events of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The biblical narrative of the Stations of the Cross flow from the Last Supper of the reredos and ascend, via golden tones, up to the upper stained glass window portraying the Ascension. The golden brightness simultaneously reflects the Holy Spirit being poured out at Pentecost. The paintings integrate theologically with existing features, and express the fullness of the Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter and Pentecost story. The sheer size of the work assists in seeing and understanding the size of the work of Christ, with darker lower sections focusing attention on the “darkness” endured in the Passion, and the brightness of the upper sections lifting the eyes to resurrection, light, life, empowering and hope.’
