A conversation between artist Jake Lever and Rev Dr Ayla Lepine
We mark the launch of a new round of A+C Awards with an online discussion between Jake and Ayla. In 2019 Jake won an Award in the Temporary Installation category for Soul Boats at Birmingham Cathedral, UK. He has often worked with the archetype of the boat and his practice explores sacred ritual in public and private contexts. As an artist and art educator, Jake is inspired by the Artist Teacher Corita Kent. This conversation will touch on themes of co-creation, connection and celebration, central to her vision.
You will be sent a Zoom link in the week before this event.
About the A+C Awards
The A+C Awards were set up in 2003 to celebrate the exceptional quality of art and scholarship in religious art and design in the UK; they are open to all faiths.
We have two Awards for Art in a Religious Context: one for a permanent commission within the building or grounds of a place of worship in the UK (£3,000); and one for a temporary installation or exhibition within the building or grounds of a place of worship in the UK.
We also give a Book Award for an outstanding contribution to the public understanding of the relationship between faith and art.
The 2025–6 Awards are currently being judged.
