A conversation between artist Stephen Owen and the Very Rev’d Andrew Nunn
In 2019 Stephen Owen won the A+C Award in the permanent category for his Communion Table and Lectern in the prayer chapel of Guildford Baptist Church (also known as Millmead). He has also recently made the liturgical furniture for the main auditorium at the church. In this conversation with A+C trustee, Andrew Nunn (former Dean of Southwark), we’ll explore the power of materials, iconography and physicality in making church furniture.
You will be sent a Zoom link in the week before this event.
About the A+C Awards
The A+C Awards were set up in 2003 to celebrate the exceptional quality of art and scholarship in religious art and design in the UK; they are open to all faiths.
We have two Awards for Art in a Religious Context: one for a permanent commission within the building or grounds of a place of worship in the UK (£3,000); and one for a temporary installation or exhibition within the building or grounds of a place of worship in the UK.
We also give a Book Award for an outstanding contribution to the public understanding of the relationship between faith and art.
The 2025–6 Awards are currently being judged.
